Developing a Case Study- Editing

Film: Deadpool and Wolverine

Genre: The genres of this film are action, comedy, and science fiction.

In the very beginning of the opening, the film included many cuts that showed us the scenery. This allowed the audience to understand more about where the film is going to take place.

In this image you can see Deadpool conversing with the skeleton. This part of the scene included many cuts that showed us different points of view of this conversation. It allows the audience to be more engaged and gives a better understanding of the tone.

In this image, the film cuts from Deadpool speaking to the skeleton to Deadpool directly addressing the audience. This makes the audience feel more connected to the characters. It also adds intimacy and humor to the film by making real-life references.

The film opening includes this scene where there is a cut from one angle to another. The second angle makes it look like the film is being shot off of a phone or device held by Deadpool. This makes it easier for the audience to connect with the character as well. This is also breaking a boundary in which the audience feels like the character knows they're there.

This image shows the fade into a previous moment in time. The date being portrayed on the screen allows the audience to know what day the film is now taking place in. This flashback gives characters a deeper insight into the context of the scene and an explanation of why something is happening.

This image shows the superimposition. Two images are placed over each other. It is showing the visions the character is having and preparing the audience for the flashback that is about to come. The feeling that comes with this is nostalgia and deeper emotion.
